The reason I ask is I saw a write up on the web about long travel Rhinos running the Rubicon this year. I believe it was side x side magazine online.

Here it is:http://www.nxtbook.com/nxtbooks/pgi/sid ... artpage=30

The green Rhino "coming down Cadillac Hill" is WRONG. That's before Cadillac Hill by about a mile.

It did fine. Low gear isn't that low, so it takes a little ramp up on some spots.

That RZR in that artical and picture is of mine and me. Jon the guy that did the write up is a good guy. But 2 things are wrong in that, that I saw right away. The RZR does not have the ability to unlock the rear diff. And "everyone would of liked powersteering" or something like that is wrong. I had no problem with the steering and thought it was super easy like it was already power.

Honestly the rhinos were too high geared and there 4wd did not seem to work that good. Also they are carburated and loaded up.

The Rangers did awsome and so did the RZR, what it lacked in ground clearance the low center of gravity made up for it.

I've never had a problem with my Rhino loading up. Crawling it could be a little lower geared, but I'm running 27" bighorns, not exactly a light or small tire

Maybe some clutching adjustments as in different weights and springs could help the Rhinos do the job. I must admit, I was never a Polaris fan in any way, but the quad videos you guys put on here has made a believer out of me in how good they really are. We recently did a rock crawling trail here in Pa, and Yamaha does have an excellent 4wd system, as you can select what you need on the spot, but it does keep you busy at times. We were in 4wd low the whole time, but I kept toggling between diff lock and unlock on tight spots to make the turns at times. I see where Polaris does alot of thinking for you.

Do any of you have any video to post from that ride? :?:

Funny you mentioned the clutch, I'm putting a EPI kit in it this week along with a shimmed Grizzly sheave. The shim will lower the overall gear ratio, while the contour of the sheave increases top speed. The clutch kit should raise my stall, giving it better low end pull as well.

Highlifter.com sells an Outlaw clutch kit that is a combination of parts from EPI that is made to turn 29" tires in thick mud. I'd bet this is the hot setup for crawlers too.

Let us know how it turns out. 8)
