Weather and lightning

Postby hemingray » Tue Jul 10, 2007 5:09 pm

I don't know if any of you are interested in weather and whatnot, but here's a cool lightning map of the west. Go to the "North West US" menu item at the top and select one of the other modes.

Fun way to see if that t-storm you see in the distance is putting out!

I bookmarked it...that's pretty cool...we haven't had a good storm around my necks of the woods for awhile...it was cool looking at other places though.

I happen to live in the lightning capitol of the US...bleh

just a couple weeks ago, 3 people got hit in 1 day from the same storm. 1 kid was taken here to the hospital where I work.

if u guys have never been down here for a summer storm....it's something to be seen....major intense thunderstorms that can pour down several inches of rain in a matter of a few minutes, and be gone just as quick as they arrived. And all that happens over your house. but not the guy living across the street.....it's crazy!

last 24 hour view on that website, has my entire county covered in lightning strikes.

Boy, do I know that one first hand!! I was raised in New Orleans!! Everyday in the summer... the humidity gets about 98 - 99% and then all hell breaks loose for about 20 minutes and it feels like a Cat. 3 hurricane just snuck up on ya. All the while, the house 2 doors down, on the same side of the street is completely DRY!!! We give a whole new meaning to the term..."scattered showers".... Hey, stay away from the trees during those storms!!

I had most o fmy internet activities blocked here at my client, but was able to get an "exemption" and able to get to more sites. . .

Only thing though, if the person next to you is taller, make sure they also have hair so you can see it starting to stand up right before the lightining lands, so that leaves some people out. . .
