New tires/rims for 2005 BruteForce 750i

Postby BruteForce » Wed Jan 28, 2009 4:56 pm

Well, I got a promotion at work today and my boss kicked in a nice tidy bonus.

That being the case, I now have a green light for new Bighorn tires and ITP SS rims for the Brute.

I've run the stock rims since original purchase, so I'm really happy to be able to replace the rims with something more durable.

Right now, I'm looking at 26x9x12 for the Front, 26x12x12 for the rear on 12x7 ITP SS rims.

Stock tires are 25x8x12 (Front) and 25x10x12 (Rear)

Any feedback appreciated.

Any feedback

I might be tempted to go with the 25 inch tires.......I think the big horns run a bit big..........what is the weight diff from the 25" to the 26"???

I don't know. I am concerned about getting the correct size. I'm pretty much settled on Bighorns coupled with ITP SS212 rims.

26x11x14 is where I may also go on sizing (Rear).

Anybody know what I should do for sizing on rims/tires (12 -v- 14)?

I would get the 12 inch rims. It will give you more side wall flex on you tires which will give you a better ride. Also if you ride in the rocks it will help too.

+2 on the 12" rims.

The 26" Bighorns measure damn near 27" at normal pressure (5 psi) so make sure you have enough room for them.

The Duros are a good option for less $$ but only come in 25". The difference is substantial ~$30 per tire!

Based on feedback from another site, I went with 12" ITP SS108 rims paired with 26x12x12 Bighorns on all four tires!

Great choice on tires I agree. But 26X12X12 on the front? Are you sure that's what you ordered? If so, I personally think you might want to re-evaluate. With the aftermarket wheels adding offfset and a 12" front tire you have your work cut out for you in the steering department, as well as the added stress you will be placing on the steering components. Again, this is just my opninion but, re-think the 12" fronts. If you are trail riding this quad you are going to be very unhappy with that large a front tire. But then again I have been wrong alot and personal choices are well, personal choices. Post pictures when you get them mounted.

Yup! Everything I've now read since ordering indicates the same. I guess I'll mount the up, try them out and if I don't like then, exchange for 12x9 up front.

Well, tires arrived are are mounted! WOW! I believe I've gained 4 inches of rear clearance by adding these tires/rims.

A few photos:

I can't get over how huge these tires are when compared to the old Maxxis All Tracks; especially the rear tires.

In taking it up and down the street a few times, I can definitely feel the difference (loss) of power.

So, to keep the 26x12x12 up front or return to RMATV and replace with 26x9x12. :?
