Belt slippage is related to setup. If you run stock weights but you ride above 5000 ft your set up is wrong. To heavy of weights will cause belt slippage. drop the weights 2 grams and your rpms will come up to 6500 at high elevation.

I have been riding a 04 500 and the first weekend in the mountains were painful. I have rejetted it to a 145 main and lowred the needle one clip.. HUGE improvment this weekend I'm trying two grams less in the primary and a little stiffer secondary spring to get batter backshift. The bike is alot of fun compared to my 700 it feels lighter..

Polaris is way off on there setup they have to set them up for ALL elevtions and the guys that ride them high elevations suffer.

Bill stick with the stock setup just drop your weights 2 grams and you will see a huge differance.

Ok from sea level to say 3000ft the standard weights and spring from the 700 with the 800 primary will be fine???? :?

I think what is more awesome here is that she knew what to get and got it. . .

Tap on the tool.
I've seen at the shops they use a impact gun.

No don't use a impact.. it will do a number on the crank shaft.. Thread the puller in tight and give a couple good whacks on the end it will pop right off.

Well its done...very easy, took me just over an hour(beer included) A couple taps on the removal tool and it popped off np. The biggest pain in the ass was wresling the footwell back on LOL.
So just rippin' around the back yard I can feel a shitload of torque that wasn't there before on the bottom end, which is what I was looking for to begin with. I'll get alittle more seat time on the trails and let ya'll know how it works out. First impression? I like it!
I think what is more awesome here is that she knew what to get and got it. . .
She's pretty cool that way Dusty, mind ya she's ribbin' me about the price of it all now

Well everything seems good with this set-up...a bit more top end in low gear, a bit more bottom end in high gear. Everything engages better and feels smooth all the way through the throttle. EBS works probably twice as good as before( it will almost stop the bike on most steep grades)

But theres a small, what sounds like the new belt, squeak every so often. So heres a stupid question....Can the belt be installed in the wrong direction? I cant remember which way I installed it and did see something about the belt being installed with the lettering facing outwards so you could read it properly(left to right as you face that side of the bike) Dont know how much merit that has but am just curious.
