Errr, 600 is acting up again

Postby ontherks » Sun Oct 16, 2005 8:10 pm

Maybe some of you know what might be up? 03 600 It did this a year ago, finally it started running fine and now its doing it again. It will run fine, then you will lose some or all power, like its running outa fuel or flooding, may do it for a few seconds or 30+ mins, I found it I pull the choke out and can normally get it to run ok again. Ride for a while then push the choke back in. So one hand on the throttle one on the choke. It will flat out not move and sputter or die it you don't use the choke.

Now to boot, It leaking oil bad all of a sudden out of the belt cover where the shaft is coming outa the engine. I have yet to pull the cover off to see what up.

Some times I think I got a lemon :( 1st rims rusted within 5 days, 1st belt lasted 5days, water pump cover leaked, after 6 month, bad master cylinder from the start, lots of loose bolts, problems above, and those dang running boards broke :) well maybe I caused that.

Sounds like a torn carb boot. Spray some carb cleaner around the boot where it mounts to the engine if it revs up it's cracked. The cost about $40 and there pretty simple to install. As far as the oil leak goes if it's the crank seal that sucks.. Pull the cover off and see where it's coming from.

Don't feel bad about the Water pump. That's on the Polaris recall list.

MAKE SURE YOU get the REAL STEEL Water pump cover...They will try to fix it with a steel plate under the plastic cover....but it will leak again eventually...

The new fix is a real STEEL cover. "bout time.

Yeah, I got the aluminum one, but I had to pay for it, they said the 600 had a updated one... had the steel plate, and the soild aluminum one was for the 02 700 and newer.

Well after letting the quad sit for 2 months, Its runs fine again? I started it s few time inbetween and it was still acting up. But Yester day I fired its up after it warmed up it was fine. Put over 20miles in last night on the rubicon with no problems.
