Upgraded Light Bulbs

Postby ATV'er » Mon Oct 10, 2011 5:55 am

I've been reading alot about the low beam lights in the sportsman and found out the stock bulbs are 37.5 watts. After reading a lot of snowmobile forums I found out that the bulbs are for fog lights. I also found out that a lot of the guys put the silverstars bulbs #893 which are brighter but are also 37.5 watts. Some people put bulbs in that are 50 watts. So I decided to put the 50 watt bulbs in by ELKO #885SW. These bulbs are $9.99 ea and the silverstars are in the $20+ ea price range unless you buy them online. I've read that you have to be carefull that they dont get to hot and melt the plastic so I will have to see how they do on the next ride.

This morning I installed the new bulbs and notice they were a lot brighter. The biggest thing I noticed is that they are brighter a lot furter out.

While I was at the parts store and talking with the guy behind the counter he turned me on to this company out of Elk Grove call 1320 performance. http://1320performancestore.com/ The specialize in HID conversions. I heard that there products are out of Japan but are priced cheap. It looks like they do conversions for most cars and may have something that may work for Atv's or Utv's. Seems like some cool stuff.

Nice...so they fit.

2 things to worry about....Battery going dead or headlight melting. We want pics if it's the latter.

Ya they fit great.

If I have any melting issues I will use the silverstar bulbs

It will just match the rest of the plastic. ;)
