Alloy vs Steel lug nut ???

Postby cwlongshot » Tue Feb 22, 2011 9:21 am

Last week I bought a set of factory RzR take offs. The rims are 12" Polaris Crusher rims and brand new 26" Maxxis Big Horn tires. I cannot go to pick them up until later this week.

My question is about the lug nuts.

Will I need different nuts for these rims than I have with my steel rims that are on the machine now?

If it matters, its a 2007 Polaris EFI 700.

i dont know much about RzR's or polaris but i know can-am comes stock with tapered lugs, and almost all after market rims use flat ones, but since its polairs / polairs you should be fine. If your worried about the alloy metal reacting with the steel, id think its a non-issue but just check after 3 months or so and you can see then.

A quick Google search turned up some posts at rzrforums.net that say the Crusher rims use tapered lugnuts. So it sounds like there are some new nuts in your future. :-)

Yes you will. Rocky Mountain ATV carries them, a little over a buck a piece. It's a 3/8 X 24 fine thread tapered lug nut.
