what is the biggest tire that you can run without a lift, and
how much lift can you use without the problem of breaking shaft?

06?

You can easily run 27"'s without a lift. I'd definitely stick to aluminum rims to keep the weight down.

You could run 28's....but you'd be a lot harder on your clutch and axles.

What do you think I could run with my 01' 500 H.O. with the HL lift springs and everything else stock?

Sorry..I knew what you meant....I typed 06? Because anything earlier, would require a different answer.

Probably 27's, you might still get some rubbing on rough terrain at higher speeds, but thats no big deal.

I agree. OGLarry has 27's...he had to cut some plastic.

You could run 27's or 28's no problem at all with a small lift, and if the springs are shot. you could replace them with something like EPI springs, or I used the 2004 red 700 front springs on my 500 and they work great. That and a 1-1/2" lift and my 27/28ish tires never EVER rub, and I have about 1000 miles with the kit on there and no problems with the CV's or boots. Only one bad rear outer boot, but, it looks like a nasty tear from something hitting it too hard though.
