RZR XP 900 Test Ride

Postby Ken » Sat Feb 12, 2011 9:00 am

Well, Kendo and I were down in the East Bay...wasting my life. LOL...inside joke.

We had some time, so we stopped by Delta Powersports on our way back. They had Orange Madness RZR S and Black Carbon RZR S....and a 900 XP. It's definitely a big boy RZR.

After scoping it out...looking at it all...I asked the guy, if he could start it...just listen to the 3 cylinder Dual Overhead cam purr..he says...you wanna ride? Sure I do!

So he back it out of the store....and I'm expecting a loop around the parking lot. But he heads out into the street....and in a matter of seconds....my head is back into the seat, and I'm going 65MPH! HOLY HELL. Brake....1 block later, turn around. Expecting to go back into the store...I'm happy.

But...he blast it up to 65 (it goes 75)....I look at the tach...and it's at 8000rpm! We go flashing by the store...Kendo is in the parking lot....watching me to WEEE WEE...like the little piggy in the commercial. We go down the block, and he turns into an empty lot full of grass....and fucking guns it....we're fish tailing and wizzin' through the grass at 50-55MPH. Now I'm in this thing....no belt...no mesh cage clipped.....holding on to the passenger bar...but the ride is VERY SMOOTH....but now I see, we have a 3'-4' lift, to get back up to parking lot level....he'll stop. Uh...no. He guns it more, and we hit this thing....and fly some 15' through the air...18"-24" off the ground and land......like we're on pillows! It was the softest, most unexpected landing....I'm expecting a jolt?....No...it was like we just did the whole thing in jello.

We stop. I leap out...I tell the guy...do that for him! Kendo gets in....and he does the same thing....Kendo gets out...."that was impressive."

Pretty much did.

I'm waiting for a White one, here in Auburn. Filing my income taxes...just to make sure I don't owe a ton a money....then it's XP RZR I think.

OK, I can see that. :-) The promo videos are pretty impressive - it's not just any side by side, the suspension alone looks like it's asking to go crawling.

Nice, the only thing that worries me about them is the rear links from the frame out to the hubs. I would bend those the first time I went rock crawling.

Looks like a high speed desert explorer.........

I need to make a trip to the Polaris dealer and look one over.

I did not realize it was a 3 cyl.

This will give you a good idea of the suspension capability.

Definitely worth a look. My bad on the 3 Cylinder...I read that on a post....but I just double checked specs...it's a Twin, DOHC.

Then you picked yourself up off the floor.... :-)

I agree though - that is the best looking side x side I've ever seen....
