Gas Racks for 05/06

Postby BearCat » Thu May 18, 2006 6:53 am

Here's how I mounted the two gas can holders on the rear rail (MrBill) Only use one stainless 3/8 carrage bolt. the bottom edge of the gas can holder rests on the rear rack. Theres about 500km's(310miles) with a full gas can on this set-up with no signs of wear other than scuffed paint. this way the holders stay above the rear lights and allow access to the storage compartment.

I mounted my racks to the frame as seen here.

The wear I'm talking about is where the plastic can hits the top steel ring around the can holder. It is putting some wear on the plastic cans.
I got the two cans and racks from a company above the 49th and they can't get me any more cans. They go with a different brand.
I had my dad check for them in Maine and no luck.

Yes my containers themselves are showing wear...going to line the racks with foam strips. But as fas as where and how they are mounted everything is OK.
