Coming Soon to ATV Obsession: Skid Plates

Postby Ken » Mon Jul 26, 2004 7:32 pm

As soon as I download my pictures, coming soon will be Custom Polaris Skid Plates to protect your foot well.

Everyone makes skid plates for the bottom...but nobody I've seen, makes plates to protect your foot well.

Dan from ATV Obsession is the owner of OFF YOUR ROCKER.

http://www.offyourrockers.com

Dan has created custom plates that protect your footwell from damage. They are diamond plate, with powder coating. They bolt right up, with only minor drilling on some quads.

We'll be selling them for $50 bucks. If you've ever replaced your footwell, you know that a new foot well from Polaris is $120. So your $50 investment is protecting $240 worth of plastic.

That is awesome that you will be selling them. Do you know how well they will fit the sportsman 500. If they fit the 500 I will get at least 2 sets maybe 3.

I don't see any reason they won't fit a 500. If it doesn't. I'm sure Dan will make changes to make it fit.

How soon will they be for sale? Will you have a place to order on here or do we need to email Dan? Sorry for so many questions.

Gimme a couple weeks. I'll be seeing Dan next weekend in person, and we'll work out the details.

Before you go and "Frankenstein" it, I have method I've used in the past. While barely better than the zip-tie, it might be worth looking at for your application. I had a similar break and found a scrap piece of flat aluminum (any metal should do) that was about 14" long by one inch wide and about a quarter inch thick. I then JB Welded that to the bottom side of the floor boards to support the boards over the break and disburse any future loads placed on it.

Does that make any sense? Oh well. It actually worked for several days until I could get a new brace welded up underneath.

Good luck, Lizard
Rincon that's dialed in.

Welder... Aluminum.... work?....

Trust me.... Zip ties work great.... See above... That was my quad...

That footwell was in three pieces.... and the zip ties extended the life of that footwell three more rides.... two into the Rubicon..... I replaced the other side also.... that one was broken into two pieces.... lol. Can you say... three hundred dollars. Trust me... it hurts spending that kind of money..

GET the footwell protectors..... you'll sport wood the next time "you think" you broke another one and didn't... lol.

well, where mine broke is where the fender connects to the wheelwell, so basically i need to buy a new rear fender as well.. (I did a nice wheelie over a big tree and came down hard!)

it all comes apart on that side nice and easy now with no tools ;)
