Wanted: Skid Plates for foot wells

Postby Joey2 » Fri Dec 30, 2005 5:43 pm

Hello everyone,

I really envy you guys and your riding stories. I feel so far away from all the action..WTF? LOL. Anyway..

I wanted to purchase the diamond plate skids for the foot wells. . Anyway I sent an E-mail to the guy and I received a response back. He wants to know if the 2005 500 SP frame is the same as the 700cc and 800cc. I am 99.9% sure that they are, I just wanted to ask.

Also the ones that he sent me pics of are different from the ones that were originaly posted. The new ones are not diamond plate and are $55.00 more. I'm not sure if I want them for $105.00, or I am just being a cheep arse?

Dan builds skid plates/rock panels all the time. I'm sure the metal he's using is good.

Yeah free and it took my slow ass about 2 weeks to make them, no motivation I guess.
A simpler thing to do Inseade of a full steel and compleatly new one would be Just make a rock slider along the outside. I originaly was planning on doing that. But then I blew the front out on the right one then next trip blew the front out on the left. One was a rock other was a big limb off the front tire.
For the right price I can make them :P

That's what Dan makes. Jack says they look slick.....different than the 2004 and lower...

Because the foot rest is more angled in the 2005, so you can't use these straight ones.

You're correct....That is the 2002-2004. The 2005, definitely looks different. Dan was supposed to take pictures of it. I only know what it "looks like", from Jack's description.

What I'm not sure of, is how much protect it provides to the front part (near the back of the tire) of the foot well.

Joey...I just talked to Dan.

Just wait just a bit. I've asked him to modify the plate to also protect the footwell on the front....near the back of the front tire. So he's going to look at it, and have a plate bolt on, to protect it from logs and branches. I lost a footwell....Blew a HOLE right in it, from a big stick.
