Apocalypse Axe

Postby hemingray » Tue Sep 18, 2012 5:21 pm

I like this, it would be a good tool to have aboard along with my pruning saw. I felt like a zombie on the last ride at mile 80. :-)

I went searching for the companion knife listed as being available later, and found all kinds of cool stuff at this site:

LOL....that axe looks SHARP!!

BTW...here's the splitting axe that I was talking about...that is amazing. It's a FISKARS.

Amazing! Too bad I don't need an axe anymore - gave up cordwood for pellets a few years ago. But I'm in for one of their hatchets to be sure.

Me too....only axe use is camping now...and they're invaluable. Jack brought his splitter again this year.

Fiskars X7 hatchet

Postby hemingray » Tue Oct 02, 2012 7:25 pm

I decided to get the Fiskars X7 hatchet to have aboard the ATV.

It's awesome! I took it for a trip around the yard and while I don't have anything to compare it to, it's a great performer. It's going to be a valued tool to have around both on the ATV and the yard. It's as described - lightweight but with a good head on it, a handle I can hold on to easily and a really good blade. I got it at Bailey's for $20 on sale, it's about $25-ish in stores.

The little one is great, now it's usually in the ATV bag. I did do a little trimming around the yard and I really like it. Would love one of their big axes, but I really have no use for it. In spring/early summer riding it should come in handy for tree and branch removal on the trails...
