BrushGrubber - Anyone have one?

Postby GrizzlyGuy » Thu Sep 08, 2011 12:24 pm

BrushGrubber.com. I'm thinking about getting a Brush Grubber Xtreme and a Grubber Tugger Chain Xtreme for clearing Snowbrush and Manzanita brush around my new place using the Grizzly. I'm not talking about doing a lot of thick brush like we have out on the trails, just the occasional annoying bush. Has anyone used these?

Looks like snake oil to me. Buying a piece of chain that they painted and jacked the price up on. As far as the grip goes, it looks like a joke too. If you get it good luck, but I think some binder chain would work just as good. I think you'll have a hard time pulling much out with the Grizzly anyway. Need more power and weight.

Are you talking big Manzanita or the small mountain variety?

The grubber looks pretty rough, but I agree with ontherks - some Grade 70 chain with grab hooks would do you well and be a multi-tasker instead of a single use tool. At any rate, their chain seems pricey even if the tool makes sense. OK, the tool is too pricey for me either...

What, no chain saw?

Thanks for the opinions! Yes, I have a Hummer H2 and would use it if the Grizzly won't do it and I can get the Hummer into where I need to pull. The Grizzly being too lightweight to maintain traction is what I thought would be my biggest problem with any of these pullers.

I'm talking about the small manzanitas we have up here. The trunks are maybe 2" dia max. The snowbrush really has no central trunk, so now I'm thinking that this might be better:

It got good reviews at Northern Tool:

Chain saw: I'm now thinking about a little Stihl MS 192CE for the small jobs I'm looking at doing (occasional limbing and brush trimming). I'd still rather pull brush out by its roots if possible as you then don't have anything left to trip over or grow back.

If you can't get the Hummer in there, you're not trying hard enough. :D

Tire chain cross link! Interesting.

On the chain saw, I still think you should opt for a bigger one. Unless weight is a real issue, I think you would find a larger saw to be more useful in general.
