Radio Headsets

Postby Ken » Mon Mar 08, 2004 7:27 pm

Based on my successful tests with Dusty with PTT (PUSH TO TALK) ear buds w/ mic, I ordered a really nice PTT system.

http://www.csonline.net/crawford/Motoco ... MC_552.htm

It has 2 speakers for your helmet, 1 microphone (all mounted inside your helmet.

It also has a weatherproof push2talk button to mount on the handle bars and 3 way junction, to allow adding an MP3 player.

The guys on ATVTIME have said this is the best headset/mic out there and works great. Based on the ear bud test I did with cheapies....I'm sure it will be great.

Yeah...They're made for the radio.

$50 for 2 radios (blue ones) or $90 for 2 high end radios (yellow ones)

$57 bucks for the headset.

If you bought the Talk Box kits...they're $200 per headset/radio or $800 for 4 ATV's. This way, it's $230 for 4 headsets and $100 for 4 radios.

I've been using the Motocomm for over a year now. I'm very satisfied with it.

Lately we've been having trouble with random noises....really loud....goes for awhile...then stops.

We've also had where we can talk without anything plugged in....plug it in, and we'll have 3 guys, with certain people able to hear, not talk...very strange.

Here some issues that may be causing your problems.

It is better not to plug and unplug the headset a million times, like when dismounting the machine. The cheap plugs wear out, those tiny pins can get bent and loosened, and dust enters the connections. The plug receptacle in the radio is the same issue. What I do now is velcro the radio to the machine. This way, when I dismount, I simply take my helmet off and set it on the machine and I'm clear of headset wires with no unplugging and replugging.

That's good information.

However, we can't do that. If you've seen our pictures....most of the times when we're getting off, it's to sprint over to help someone who's gotten into a spot of trouble.

I keep my radio on me....so the only thing I disconnect is the talk button.....Hmmm...guess what we're having troubles with.

Hey Terry...I just realized....My issues started when when I got your cord and plugged it in to my old talk button.
