Well...on the Sport Trak (not sure if the XL is the same).

The tracks are continuous. So I do 2 rides without downloading...I save the whole track...then delete the 1st ride and save (rubicon, example). Then re-open the original file...and delete the 2nd ride and save that file (fordyce, example)...the delete the original file.

You can also save the ride on your PC...the delete the tracks on it. So your next ride is fresh.

A HA! So I cant save seperate routes on the unit itself? Interesting. I would think you could end one tracking route and start over.

You can. If you go into the menu and start looking around, you should find it. You can start and stop the logging and give each one a specific name. I wish I could give more detailed instruction, but I'm still trying to figure this out myself. These have more features than I'll ever learn or use.

Turn on the gps and get it running, then hit the menu button one time. Using the joy stick toggle to highlight "track log" then push the joy stick once to enter that screen. When the Track Log screen comes up toggle down to active track and push the joy stick again. At that screen you can save the active track, turn it off, or start a new one, resume or clear it off. I usually save everything as a track, then move it to my computer and editing it before I save as a route. This is the one downfall to this GPS, it's slow moving into the track and route files, but considering the amount of data and info I guess it should take a little time

Yer the man Ken. Actually, mine was slightly different...I had to click "Stop Logging" on my active track, then I could click "New Track"

Thanks for the help!

Tell me about it. I need to figure out the Topo software. Does it load to the GPS so you can see the Topo while on the trail?

keith/Ken

If you are not using the DVD version that comes with the software, you can use the older version 1.00 (Cd version as opposed to the DVD 1.04 version) you just have to perform an additional step or two.

1) You need to install the MapSend converter software that cames on the Green CD (I think it is green)
2) Create a region
3) Click Upload region to GPS (Tools menu), but you will need to save it to file, not actually load to the GPS
4) After it is a file, you need to open the Map Send Converter and it will walk you through actually converting it to the xl format and upload it to the GPS. . . a pain in the butt, but it works. . .

If you want I can also give you some of my region files that I have as it might make it easier. . .

Thanks Dude...

I had no idea all that would have to be done before XL worked with my Topo 3D software.

God forbid, they update the software....

Just got back from Game Stop (EB Games) and picked up a PSP screen saver. Just had to cut the top to fit the curve...put it on...perfect. Only doesn't cover about 1/32" on each side....almost perfect fit. No more scratches.

The box comes with 2....I don't remember how much..5 bucks? I had to use both, when I put the first one down and crumb or something got stuck dead center.

The one I use on my PSP, has been on there 18 months.
