I recently purchased a Rubber Coated Mesh Rack from
http://www.hayneshunting.com/atv_rack.html and love it! I mounted mine on the front, and it hauls items with no rattling (Great for a chain saw!). Our Weiner dog also lves to take casual rides with me while sitting in it.
It is really has many uses, as you can toss items in it and not have to worry about tying them to a rack, as long as you don't ride like a total madman.
