Getting out one more time

Given the good weather over the Thanksgiving weekend, I decided to take a shot at going over to Meadow Lake. It's never a bad day in the Bowman area, and with the lake way down, it's fun to play around there.
The fun thing was making it to Meadow, despite the snow and fallen trees - and finding the lake so far down. In the middle, upstream from the dam, was either a road bridge or a previous dam. Very cool! To me, it seems like an earlier dam - hard to know what it was, but for me was the score of the day. The tree stump next to it is fascinating, given how old the lake and dam are. Maybe it's the remnant of the earlier dam, made into a road bridge during construction of the current dam - it doesn't seem big enough to be a dam, but the 1891 Truckee Topo shows the lake as being a bit smaller. Oh well, another Sierra mystery.
Nice ride, and not a really cold day. Click the pic for my little gallery.
