FR-45

Postby hemingray » Mon Aug 05, 2013 8:28 pm

I managed to drag myself away from yardwork etc. and up to FR-45 for a short jaunt. FR-45 starts off of the paved FR-19 between the North Fork Campground and Tunnel Mills Campground.

First, I was pleased that I had my tow chain and shackles etc. in the truck, because I encountered a young man looking for help to get his car off a rock at the empty Tunnel Mills CG. He was turning around to follow his buddies out and got well stuck. A quick hookup with the chain pulled him off and probably saved the evening from a faraway and pricey tow.

Anyway, enjoyed a short ride in the area. It's not terribly scenic, but I like it. The remnant of Black Mountain Road is beckoning - it's the rocky washed out looking thing in the picture gallery. I've only been to the junction where it turns uphill.

Sure looks like you found the source...or pretty darn near close to it.
