Wentworth Springs Road/Crystal Basin Area

Postby Rubicon_Rider » Sun Jul 15, 2012 9:15 pm

A group of us camped on Wentworth Spring Road just past the water crossing July 6th,7th & 8th. We have been doing this every year for the past 4 years, this year we found Wentworth Springs Road was closed from Airport Flat Campground to the blacktop because they are building a bridge over Gerle Creek at the water crossing. We ignored the road closed sign and camped and rode anyway because constuction hadn't started. We also found a few other roads closed as well. We come across a couple Forest Rangers that told us they are building the bridge because the water quality folks requested it. The trail/road going to Mckinstry Lake was also closed, the Forest Ranger Ladies told us someone thought the road was going through marsh land so they decided to close it. If you haven't rode this area before it is a great place to ride, there a lot to see.

I got a new Go Pro Helmet Cam for fathers day and used for the first time, followed my 12 yr old son on Wentworth Springs Road going toward Airport Flats Campground:

That was in March. You need to get WAY caught up. Judge Karlton ordered 42 trails, which affect over 100 miles of trails. 14N05 was on the list of trails that crossed meadows. Nobody seems to know where the meadow is.

You're right I need to get caught up. We love riding up there, we plan a big trip up there every year for the boys only and call it Camp and Crawl.

The FS asked us if we knew the road was closed then a guy with us that works for BLM said he talked to the construction crew and construction wouldn't start until Monday. He started naming names and knew their boss and they let us ride after checking our green stickers.

Thanks for fixing my Youtube link but all i see now is a black box.

Fine for me in FF 13. Maybe it's a Flash Player issue? I'm at 11.3
