Ridin' with the Sasquatch

Postby doulos » Sun May 27, 2012 9:52 pm

I had the pleasure of riding with Sasquatch and the crew yesterday... I think they tried to kill me though! Man am I sore today!

They took me on a short, 43 mile ride in the El Dorado Canyon area in Dayton Nevada. I don't think we even saw 5%! What a great riding area. What great people to ride with too!

Here's just a few shots.

We had 11 ATV's at one point which is a pretty good turn out. "doulos" came out and met up with us for a day ride on Saturday... I am pretty sure he enjoyed the outing and will be back for more The day he was there he would most certainly have won the award for the nicest (and cleanest) ATV! It was nice to meet up with him and finally put a face to the name

My bro-in-law Jason and I were the first (and only) to arrive late Thursday afternoon. By Friday we had another 5 camper's with machines, and by Sunday we were at full capacity.

The first night was pretty nice. The next couple days offered up sunshine, light sprinkles, heavy rain, hail, snow, wind, and everything else Nevada is known to dish out!

Sunday was gorgous weather. As usual, we had the shepherd come right through our camp with 3000+ head of sheep! Another interesting event (which I unfortunatly failed to get any pictures of) was a good sized horse endurance race that also came right through our camp throughout the day... 70+ riders on horseback give or take a couple mules and a jogger - lol.

Monday and Tuesday was picture-perfect weather with not a cloud in sight and highs in the mid to high 70's (hard to believe it had just snowed a couple days earlier!)

As usual, the BBQ's were OUTSTANDING! The beer was cold and flowing ... the camp fire was big enough for a dozen men (and a couple sheep)... heck, at one point we even had a blow-up doll hanging out in our camp! (there may have been whisky involved with that one).

All in all it was another awesome trip and everyone had a great time right up until we had to start breaking down camp and prepare for the long drive home.

Anyhow, enough with all the blablahblah... here are a bunch of random pix in no particular order.

Hope you enjoy! ~

Wow - great pix, great trip! What a variety of stuff all weekend. That is surely the most diverse trip I've seen pictured here. Bravo!

I forgot to set a marker in camp, but I think it very close to these coordinates: N 39* 12.284' W 119* 34.098'

Looks about like the weather we had over in Mina that weekend! Planning on heading back before summer is over to hit a few trails we missed due to the weather.

Awesome pictures, I am planning to go there in May also and wanted to know how is the weather during that time of year?

Well... this is Nevada. We have a saying that goes something like this; "if you don't like the weather, wait 5 minutes!"

As you can see from the pics, it was sunny, it rained, it was sunny again, it snowed, it was cloudy and it was sunny again! It's best to come prepared for any weather. I'll let Sas give you his prognosis but I'm packing for a repeat of last year just to be safe. #-o

Oh yeah, bring sun screen too!
