05-21-11 Bryant Mountain

Postby ACLakey » Sat May 21, 2011 9:15 pm

Well, a buddy of mine and I decided to go for a ride on Bryant Mountain. Neither of us have been up there in 20 or so years so it would be an exploratory ride looking for a route to take a larger group. Dad was gracious enough to let me ride his Polaris 550XP for the day. I must say, I really like this quad! The Views all around the mountain are outstanding.

The views near the truck arn't half bad.

Now, I had forgotten just how many small lakes are in this area. We passed around 10 different lakes and I quit taking pictures after the first half dozen or so.

Some old corrals

MANY lakes

We continued on to the East side of the mountain and found some great views. We were only able to get about 2/3 of the way to the top due to posted property. The views did not suck.

On the way back down we did a little drift busting....and winching. :)

We decided to stop at Sims Lake for a little lunch.

On the way back around the mountain we came across a very cool spring that came out from under some boulders.

We made a quick side trip to check out some views.

All in all it was an outstanding ride and a great time.

Awesome area - thanks for the pix. Looks like a fun day! Are those the stock tires on the Grizzly? You gotta get some better traction to get you through the snow!

Ya, I have been busting his chops about those tires for a few years now....I might have him convinced. :)

Those Dunlops (assume they are the same that came with mine) are SO thin. I was constantly worried about a puncture or tear. No worries with the Bighorns.

Last November Mr. Winch came in pretty handy when a berm actually turned out to be a log.

Yea that sounds familiar that's when I learned a lesson re: Harbor freight winches. By the way bigger is better isn't it ?

I like the Warn I have on the 700. The 660 has a Viper or somesuch. Never again. Night and day difference between the two. I've gotten my money's worth out of the cheap one, pulling the ATV a number of times and pulling down dead limbs, dragging and brush around etc. etc.
