Tinhunter, to bad hopefully only his ride was messed up and not him, there was several trails i turned back on since i was by my self and unsure if i could make it 100% with out issues and with out help / back up.
roon, i have been there a few times now and this was the first weekend, and wow what a change. I was at davis flatts before but when i pulled in on friday i pulled right back out and went to old mill (a camp ground much higher and off of m-5). Davis flatt was full to say the least, but even with that i hardly saw bikes on the trail, seems most off them stay very very close to camp down there, which is fine with me. Last few times i went i saw 2-5 people in 2 days on trails this time about 10-14 not to bad, but most of those trails it was a tight fit even for bikes to get past. Also i did a few steeper (in short burst) but that was the only one i felt ok on to stop and take picks.
Eigermike, I also think pics dont make it look that steep, so i tried to find angles that would show it a little better. Like by showing the trees (up top) and the bush's limbs (down low to right) on pic 3 for reference on the true angle (o and it helps if its step as shit as well).
auendave, i have done more tech trails for sure but just the grade / angle at stony was more then what id call a little pucker power, but maybe i just dont know the capabilities of mine / most atvs yet.
Cameokids, hell ya i was puckered

ive found that i love to crawl down hill and then blast up hills... and its a hard snap decision at stonyford on several trails if you should slow down and look at it or keep the momentum up and go for gold on the climbs. My atv is lighter up front then most 4X4 and im still finding my balance / momentum point's.

Luckily only his quad was messed up. We couldn't make it up the trail and so I was able to back down to a turn around spot and get turned around. When my buddy was trying to do the same he ended up getting sideways and had to bail as his quad rolled and bounced down the trail. I was able to race down the hill and out run his rolling quad before it rolled over me. This was the first time that we had ridden together and after the crash he informed me that he didn't have enough experience to ride black diamond trails; even though he was the one that chose to take that trail. Not a very smart choice on his part. If I had known he wasn't that comfortable on his quad I would have suggested we stay on the more difficult and easy trails.
