Monumental Creek/FR-45

What a smoky day! Still, getting up to altitude is nice - thought there was more smoke in the air than down in the foothills. Since nobody's riding, I'll post my lousy smoky pictures.

What happens when you don't waterbar a road:

This is a better kind of fire to find:

The road I'm on ends on the right shoulder of Quartz Mountain, straight ahead (why does the Tahoe have so many non-connecting routes?)

Monumental Ridge is, well, monumental! I have to ride this again this fall, the vistas must be great when there's no smoke.

FR 19 is at the top of the opposite ridge, closer to the Yuba Gap side (Mears Meadow sits at the top left). No connection from this side...
