Shasta Rock Rollers Poker Run
I got to attend the Shasta Rock Rollers Poker Run again this year. This is a club that is based in Redding CA. The poker run is in Wildwood, off highway 36 about an hour west of Red Bluff. There were 62 riders on the poker run. They had to break it into 5 groups to make it work. I came in with a pair of 4's, queen high and I won a bottle of quad wash. I heard the un-official count was 150 people at the event counting spouses etc. We had a great time. Here are some photos. I really love the 13 dips ride.
When you camp here, if you don't bring it with you, you don't have it. The dirt comes at no extra charge.
The Poker Run keeps mostly to the easy trails and roads.
Lots of beautiful scenery
13 Dips Road is great for pictures
A beautiful Dip
Another Dip
Yet another dip

We got to watch the International Space Station go by

That looks way cool.

The poker run is for members and non members. I had to pay $10 to get my poker hand and lunch. I paid and extra $5 to get a hand for my wife. I paid an extra $10 for her lunch as I recall. So $25 for 2 lunches and 2 poker hands. I got her a different deal because she did not ride. A membership is $35 for a couple and you still pay $10 each for the poker hand, just no cost for the lunch. You can also buy more extra hands if you want. The ride follows a predetermined route. Placed along the route are small buckets with cards sealed in envelopes. You get card #5 at the finish. Then the official takes all your SEALED envelopes and opens them to check your hand. No opening them to pick and choose to get a better hand. After lunch they award the prizes.
As far as by invite only or not, I am not sure. I was a member and I let my dues lapse. I still get the club email since I live so far away. They do have non member prices but you would need to know when to go so you could RSVP ahead of time. They do a poker run once or twice a year, I can give you the contact info.

Yes 13 dips is great. I would love to go some day with a whole day to take photos just of that area. We didn't go to the natural bridge this time. I have been in the past. It is my understanding that there are also some extreme trails as well as easy roads to ride on.EigerMike wrote:awsome pics!!!! sure wish i could have made it!sounds like you had a great time.13 dips is a great trail!!!!!!!!!!did you guys go to the natural bridge ?
