Snow ride with Mr. Bill

Postby oldtrucks » Wed Feb 20, 2008 7:46 pm

After months of nagging I finally got Mr. Bill out for his first trip on his new/used sled. For those that don't know, Mr. Bill now owns the sled that belonged to Mr Miyagi.

I convinced Mr. Bill to join me on a real estate adventure to the Sierra Valley to go look at a cabin I want. The cabin is 10 miles off the paved rode, in the winter the only access is by track vehicle or foot. Pretty remote, but an incredible place to get away from everyone.

The general location is about 20 miles from nowhere, and 30 miles SW from the intersection of Highway 70 and 395.

This was like the Bonneville Salt Flats for sleds, and yeah, a sled is a touch quicker than a quad, mine still had some more but I ran out of brass

On the other side of the valley we found a great place to cruise through the trees and play on the hills.

Nice wheelies. ( is that what you call them on sled?). If I may ask, what would a retreat in the woods cost in that area? :-k

What an awesome location for a getaway cabin, Larry! You've got riding opportunities all around there. Hang gliding too, if you want to take that up (Black Mtn on your right as you drive up toward Milford).

And, you wouldn't be that far from Chilcoot which is where Sierra Yamaha is. They'd probably make you a sweet deal on a new Grizzly with your KQ as a trade-in. Just don't tell them how many times you've rolled it.

I see the elevation on the gps, What elevation is the cabin???.......does not look like the snow is that deep at the cabin???

77 mph....... not going to be seeing those speeds on a 4x quad.

Cool.........

Elevation on the GPS was from the staging area, cabin is about 6000 feet. There was probably 4 feet of snow there, it sits in the trees and that was after 2 weeks of sun, so it's settled quite a bit
