Wheel Ballance???

Postby DAVE » Mon Jan 21, 2008 7:03 pm

I get a pretty good front end shake when I am on hard pack or pavment. I am running 26 inch Mudlite XTR's they have a very agresive tread pattern. I thought about having the tire/wheels ballanced. Just wondering if anyone has or had a similar problem.

I got a lot more shaking at high speed with my 589's, than I do with my Bighorns.

I've never heard of ATV tires getting balanced...but I'm sure someone can find out how bad the tire is out of whack.

My 500 came with wheel weights when it was new.

DAVE,

Bighorns have a yellow dot on the sidewall and that is supposed to be lined up with the valve stem when mounting. I assume that has something to do with the balancing. Your Mudlites may also have a yellow dot, and if so, check to see if they are lined up. This article mentions yellow dots even on motorcycle tires:

Seems like using wheel weights to balance them like a normal car tire would be your only option if everything already looks good.
