07 Vinson 500 Gauges

Postby Dandul » Mon Mar 22, 2010 1:28 pm

Hi All, brand new to the site and to ATV's. I just bought a Vinson 500 but my gas gauge doesn't work and it flashes... Also when in Park my "P" doesn't light up. Everything else seems to work.. Any ideas where I should start?
Thanks~

Thanks roon101,

It is a used bike, yeah I figured the gas gauge was just for "looks" but what caught my attention was that it is flashing on and off. Like some time of reset or something... I don't know..

well as for the flashing that is somthing i have never had you may wanna get that checked out due to possible wiring issues but if my atv says half take it is not always true.

Yeah..I have a digital gauge on my Polaris...I never pay attention to it. I go old school, and open it up and look inside. If it's just above the center plastic hump...I've got about 2 gals left.

My brothers Wolverine was doing a similar thing, but it also was causing the engine to miss. We ripped it apart, including unplugging all the wires to the speedo, and looked for anything. Never found anything. Plugged it all back in and its worked perfect since. Maybe just a loose contact somewhere. Also, make sure the battery terminals are clean and tight.
As far as fuel gauges, on the Polaris', when it starts blinking, get gas VERY soon. I got @ 4 miles in the woods after and...well...lets just say if there was any BAD gas in there, I definitely got rid of it!

I have a 2005 vinson 500 and my gas gage will say half a tank, ill look and its still full. So Im thinking just like you said its just for looks. But iv never had a problem with it flashing, and iv had mine in some deep mud and water. So it might be a wiring problem some where. (im not good with electrical stuff)

And when you untie the last knot, it means your winch cable is no longer attached to the spool.
