EFI Controllers

Postby Keith Strong » Fri Feb 02, 2007 8:41 pm

Starting research and wanted a thread of info to follow up on ;)

http://www.powercommander.com/321-411.aspx

$339

http://www.dobeckperformance.com/atv/

$215

Why the big price difference? Just the name recognition? I have always used DynoJet Power Commanders on my race bikes and been very happy them. I am curious if I would be as happy with a Dobeck controller...

Keith I don't know much about the controlers.....but I like how easy they install and ajust looks pretty cool. What kind of HP gain do you get from this install??

It is hard to say. On a 99 TL1000r sport bike I went from 118hp baseline to 145 at the rear wheel from doing a K&N Filter, Full Yoshimura Exhaust, and DynoJet controller 8) I doubt those kind of increases are to be had on a kingquad by any means, but 5+ hp would be very noticeable I think.

They don't make these for my bike, but other companies do. They're really supposed to make a big difference throughout the whole power band. All that power really doesn't do much good crawlin around on the rocks though. Another, more affordable option that I used just opens up the bottom end. It's the "Moose Module". On my bike, and probably yours too, the bike is really detuned for the first 5 mph to make it more ride-able. The moose module just gives that back. It makes a big difference on the bottom end.

Thanks. I will have to look into that. After riding today I have determined I am plenty happy with the power. But, like you just said, the bottom end off the line is seriously lacking. I am thinking clutch kit, but I need to check and see what that will do to my warranty.

It shouldn't be an issue with the warranty, you're not touching anything inside the motor or transmission. One of the best alterations you can do
