I'm in, got the clearance from the wife, so I'll be coming by my self. Got my winch from montanajacks.com and will work on installing it this week hopefully I'll have it done.

I don't know if I'll be there Friday night or Saturday morning but what time would the first ride be on Saturday?

You got Clearance, Clarence...

probably around 10 or so. Oh, and don't freak out on the winch...we won't hit anything winch able....except pulling this tree out of the way.

I've sent the forest service photos, and asked what I need...and we'll take care of it for 'em. Get some good will.

Thanks Ken, I think I'll come up Saturday AM then, cause by the time I get off work and search for the place and what not it would be dark and I hate setting up in the dark. Meanwhile I'll keep working on the winch find my camping gear and buy a few small items for the quad. I will bring my coleman stove and 2 lanterns and a chainsaw if you guys need me to?

Yesterday, while I was scouting out good camp sites at Meadow Lake, being the early bird that I am, I was talking to the camp host. He said there was no riding allowed on trails, due to fire hazard restrictions in Tahoe National Forrest. He said as a general rule, if a fire truck can drive on it, it is a 'road' and it's ok to ride on. Otherwise, the trails are closed to off-road vehicles.

Are you guys aware of these restrictions, or am I once again missing something. I'm told that happens from time to time.

Will...you're behind the 8 ball again. Go to the 1st page...I posted a map (it's ONE post after the dates for next week :) )...the ONLY trail that is closed, is the Fordyce. Every other road in the entire area is open.

Yes, I was happy to see that fires in the fire rings are still allowed.

Ken, I will trust that your map is accurate. You guys have lots of experience with this stuff. I just thought I would pass on what the camp host said to me.

Nothing like a good fire (controlled that is) when camping in cool weather, I can't wait.

OHV Trails in Tahoe National Forest

I just talked to the Forest Service in Nevada City (530-265-4531) and was told that all OHV trails are closed in the Meadow Lake area. The only riding open to ATV's are the county and fire truck accessible roads. I was referred to their website to download a map, but haven't done that yet. I know that we are all looking forward to riding this weekend. I haven't been to this area, are there lots of county/fire truck roads for us to ride?
