oldtrucks wrote:Ken I just went to Google Earth and the coordinates I gave you should be pretty close. They showed it as 38 42 18.68 N 120 24 34.95 W. An area they call Stump Springs, Elevation is about 5500 ft.
Ok I think I figured it out. I don't know if it is the same for your GPS but mine accepts coordinates as

Format Examples
41.989833, -87.58694
degrees as real numbers separated with comma.
41:59.3, -87:35.22
degrees as integer and minutes as real numbers separated with colons.
41:59:18, -87:35:13
degrees, minutes and seconds as integers separated with colons.
N41:59:18, W87:35:13
degrees, minutes and seconds with prefixes (N – north,
S – south, W – west, E – east).

I entered them in using the bottom format which didn't work. When I used the second one down it worked. In the post it looked like three different numbers(38/42/309) but it was two, 38 and 42.309N. Whats one little dot between friends. I guess I better study my manual a little more.

Ken I also had mine set up Lat/Lon Deg.Min.mmm, I changed it to Deg.Min.Sec and they changed slightly. try 38 42' 19N x 120 24' 15W

Does that make any sense at all?

Once I put them in using the correct format it did work. I also found Stump Springs so I am in the right area. Now if the weather is nice I am going to go next Saturday. :D
Thanks Again Ken

Well we made it on our first snow trip. We ended up going to the Mendocino Forest. With that last storm the snow level came down too low for me. My son rides a 125 and I was worried that he would get stuck to easily. We wanted to have some room to ride without snow in case he got stuck. At Mendocino we started at about 1500 feet and rode up to a little over 5000 feet. We got into about 6-8 inches when he started having too much trouble moving up hill. All in all we had a good day with enough snow to make everyone happy. :D Thanks for the input. Ken
