I usually try to catch a view of the sunset on the mountains, and noticed nothing on Saturday evening (Duncan Peak had spotted the smoke at 4:30 PM). This was shot Sunday morning - went out there and saw the plume and said "oh sh**". I plotted it to Chickenhawk or Deadwood, but thought something was more likely to be near Chickenhawk since there's nothing out there on Deadwood to speak of. Sunday morning they were talking of a vehicle and a missing person, but I haven't heard anything else since about that.

I'm hoping to be pleasantly surprised when I can ride out there again. When the lightning-caused Westville/Government Springs fire burned a large area in the North Fork area, it looked like it would be a moonscape but it was amazing how that did not occur. There were areas of total burn, but most were just a ground fire through the duff and brush.
