A little winter

Postby hemingray » Fri May 25, 2012 6:50 pm

Despite bold statements to the contrary, I didn't ride today - it looked like a bit too much weather to enjoy riding in. But, I was curious about whether there was snow or not, so I took a trip up Foresthill Road (it looked like it from 2000 feet here, but I had to get up IN it!)

The weather was lowering on Sawtooth Ridge across the river.

Image

At 6,000 feet, there was a fair amount of snow sticking, except to the road.

A view towards Snow Mountain (living up to its name).

Image

At Robinson Flat, someone has plowed up towards Duncan Peak, but I didn't follow it too far.

Almost June!

Some powder for Eric.

At Sailor Flat Road, a snow flurry.

It was fun anyway, and I explored some stuff around Foresthill that I probably would not have if I had the quad with me.

It's going to be a cold start to the Memorial Day weekend! I think I'll ride on Sunday!

PS: I posted the following on FB, thought you might enjoy it here. It's last night, when the clouds started coming in about sunset:

Thanks, but we picked up about 1" earlier and it is snowing again right now. The holiday crowds who head up for camping and boating must be bummed.

There was a lot of traffic heading east around noon when I headed out - otherwise I might have ended up at Donner!

BTW - in the picture of the road at Robinson Flat - when we rode from Soda, we got stopped just around the next corner.

Miserable Memorial weather has happened pretty regularly lately

Yeah, that looks miserable! I don't know what's worse: getting soaked in crappy weather or drinking cheap piss beer in a can. :P

It was snowing when I woke up this morning, we now have a couple inches on the ground. Over at my old house they probably got closer to a foot. Last Memorial Day weekend we got 1-2 feet of cold dry powder and KT-22 on Squaw was outstanding the next day. Crazy...

First of all...Mr. Eric....we weren't soaked. ;) Perfectly dry inside our gear. Secondly, Tecate in a can, is about as good as you can get in a can.

Lastly....maybe the magnetic pole is reversing.....and we're slowly becoming the Southern Hemisphere...and we don't know it.
