South Yuba flows - Fordyce too?

Postby hemingray » Mon May 30, 2011 4:17 pm

With news like the below, I imagine Fordyce Creek will be running high for quite awhile.

----------------------------

Flow to the South Yuba River below Lake Spaulding will begin increasing on Monday, May 16 and eventually reach levels between 1,000 - 2,000 cubic feet per second as the week progresses and temperatures increase. These elevated flows may continue through early July, with the levels highly dependent upon the temperatures that occur during this period. Lake Spaulding will begin spilling during the week of May 16. The snow survey data collected in early May indicate the snow water content of the snow pack for the Yuba River is approximately 162% of the April 1 average. This has been one of the largest snow packs measured since 1983, and the run-off from this snow pack will result in above average flows in the Yuba River for an extended period.

I think the Fordyce will be more appropriate in a Kayak, than crossing in a Jeep.
