It's out in my back yard. During winter it looks like this, so no riding for me:

Ken's right, they plow our street except... when some tourist idiot decides to drive his 2WD mini-van up here to see the snow while a major storm is moving in. The van is in the middle of our street:

Image

The plow guys couldn't come by as usual so the snow really piled up. Here they are in their 'super blower' a few days later navigating around the van:

Image

They stop to write down the info on the van so that it can be towed and the cops can cite the driver:

Image

The neighbors were pissed that no one could use the road for a few days thanks to the idiot, and gathered hoping that the driver would return and could be yelled at:

Image

We just happened to have some friends staying with us when the storm moved in and they found this all quite entertaining. Conrad is standing up on the snow between our deck and the Grizzly Den while I make about the 10th pass with my mini-blower to clear the snow off the deck:

Image

Lisa decides to see if her tongue will freeze to the big snow bank across the street (next to where the van was stuck):

Hot water was not needed, she safely retracted her now-cold tongue a few seconds later. :)

I was drinking heavily throughout that whole storm so I can't remember when it was. :P

I asked the wife and she says it was 1998.

Where in the hell do you live Mt Everest, I would almost say that's fake with so much snow and actually have a street. Man that would be fun, you could just snowboard right to the bottom.

I'm up at 7120 feet in the mountains west of Truckee. There is a great backcountry skiing/snowboarding area called Sunrise Bowl right across the street from my house. Some of the crazy local kids even setup jumps and jump across our street.

On days when the roads are closed, I can either hike up that bowl or ski from my back deck down to the local downhill ski area. The bottom of that lift is below us and the top is above us. So I can ski down to the lift, then ski almost all the way home at the end of the day (just need to hike up about 50' of elevation right behind the house). :)

We're not supposed to ride snowmobiles here in the neighborhood but people do anyway. My neighbor rides from his house all the way out to the Meadow Lake area, Yuba Pass, etc. He could probably go all the way to Auburn if the snow line was ever down that low.
