Bent tie rod and smashed fingers

Postby ACLakey » Sun Jan 03, 2010 12:11 am

On a recent ride I found a large snow covered rock which pitched me into the bushes and taco-ed both my right wheels. After getting the quad home I replaced the tie rod today and pounded the wheels back into shape, that is when the pain began. I was attempting to rewind my winch cable so I just put some gloves on. I reached down and grabbed the hook and started to twist the spool release when my dad accidentally bumped the switch. Before I could react the winch pulled my hand into the roller fare-lead and smashed the hell out of my index and middle fingers. A trip to the doctor reveled I broke my index finger and smashed them pretty good(duh). I still don't have feeling in the tip yet but he thinks it will come back when the swelling goes down. Dad feels like crap but things happen, good thing I just put my gloves on or it could have been real bad. Typing is not easy down one finger. :)

OUCH!

You're lucky you still HAVE your fingers. Get better.

Had something similar happen to me last year. Didn't break any fingers, but did end up with several stitches across the fingers and top of hand where the winch cable tried to sever the fingers.

Ouch!
