After reading the forum for a week or two I, had to join and light my candle. Im an Atv Adict! Problem is, I,m confident with my adiction, with no intentions of quiting..lol. Im glad to see that there is others like me, as it seems that there are many cases worse than mine. It all started with a purchase of a ArcticCat 500 Manual (just a work horse for around the place..so I thought), a week later my folks bought a Polaris Sprotsman 500. That was fine for a month or two, but my wife felt excluded, My dad being the concerned father inlaw went and purchased a 330 Trailblazer for just my wife and my mom. Not knowing this, I was purchasing a Sportsman 800 at the same time, so my wife could have the ArcticKitty. So now every one has the own machine. I would have never guessed in a million years that this would be something my family would be interested in, let alone obsessed with. I look forward to getting to know all of you on the forum..JimR
Recently I have been infected with ATV Purchasing Syndrome. ArcticCat 500 in Jan. and recently Polaris Sportsman 800. Is there a cure?

Hello from Truckee

Postby GrizzlyGuy » Sun Jul 08, 2007 8:05 pm

Hemingray (Dave) pointed me at this site so I went ahead and registered. Ya'll look like my kind of people. :)

I'm in Truckee and just got a new Grizzly 700 (camo) to replace my ole 03 Grizzly 660:

My wife was lucky enough to get the special edition to replace her not-so-ole 660:

It sure is hard to keep the throttle in check during the break-in period. Especially with the shiny new bash plates just begging to be scratched up. Can't wait until 200 miles and the first service are under the belt.

My main interest used to be multi-day expedition rides (all gear on board). Now I'm getting more into making ATV videos when conditions aren't too dusty. Around these parts, that means I make videos during 1 month/year in the spring, right?

Thanks Lori! I'm glad you liked that video. :)

Some folks thought we staged that collision but we didn't. I'm a lousy actor and this 'deer in the headlights' frame grab from a moment before impact kind of tells the story:

Image

No worries, I got even later in the ride when a conveniently placed mud puddle let me send some icy water her way (as shown near the end of the Fresh Tracks video). :D

Take care, hopefully we'll 'run into you' some time out on the trails. But not literally!

Junfan,

Thanks!

We're running 25x8-12's on the front and 25x10-12's on the rear. Those tires/wheels went on the old 660's last summer and we tried them out for the first time on this 6-day, 633 mile jaunt through Utah. They worked great on lots of different types of terrain, especially the rocks, and are easily the best tires I've ever had. So I naturally had them moved to the new Grizzlies as soon as I could. :)

I'm still trying to get used to this power steering. Did a 66-mile cruiser run from Little Truckee Summit out to Yuba Pass with my wife yesterday and it felt like I hadn't even ridden when we got back. I like that the steering is now so effortless, but it seems like I've lost some "terrain feedback". Oh well, I guess it takes some time to get used to.

Welcome...............

I think the power steering is awsome on those machines, I have seen some video with the 4x with the locker, locked in and looks like its easy steering.

welcome aboard....I like checking out your vids. keep it up.

Thanks, Dave. I haven't tried the locker yet but I am hoping to be pleasantly surprised when I do.

My boyfriend and I have been riding for 10+ years and as I tell people it is truly one of my passions. We have been looking for a local group to ride/camp with and I recently found your awesome site. Really enjoyed all the video clips, great job on those. Looking forward to a riding event with you. Places we've riden are: Utah Piaute trails for 4 years, Moab last spring and Wild Horse Nevada this June all with our Utah buddies that used to be here in CA. All got transfered to Utah after the base closures here in the Sacto CA area. So we hook up with them each year to ride and explore together. All have been awesome riding areas. Our rides are: A camo Can-Am 800 XT (his) and a yellow Can-Am 650 XT (mine).

Happy Trails,
Carrie and Loren
