Postby iceland-atv » Wed Aug 05, 2009 2:08 pm

Is it normal that the handelbar on Sportsman 800 '05 vibraits alot when you are driving on asfalt roads. I tried '08 and it was the same, and they did not have the same tires. Can somebody give me tips to fix it or is this normal..PS. don't kill me if i have any wrong spellings. greatings from iceland

Welcome from Iceland!!

OK, if you're going very fast at all, the front end will shimmy and cause the vibration in the handlebars. The only way I know of to fix it would be to get the front tires balanced with wheel weights. Most of us across the pond don't drive on asphalt at speed, so we don't bother having the tires balanced.

Thanks very much for this site. i have played almost all the videos on it and it's cool to see all the crazy rides you are going.

Welcome! Spelling is not an issue on this board. :-)

You also might check the toe-in/toe-out - the alignment in the front wheels. If it's a bit off, it might also cause a little vibration since one tire and then the other is getting traction, back and forth - sort of fighting each other.

Good luck!
