Yeah. I caught this on the Channel 3 news last night. Rescued by a CHP helicoper. Hopefully, they bill him the $10k - $15k cost recovery. The state needs the $.

Unfortunately, as stated by Mr. FJ, the money is taken out of OUR registration fees for moronic acts like this.

The guy just can't seem to get thru his head that this was 100% his fault, he wants to blame "extra" release from the dam. Bullshit!! Even if there were (which there were not) the flow from the dam was already 400 CFS. An FJ on 33's doesn't make that, no matter what. I had a Jeep on 38's and would not have attempted it. I have crossed many times in the 250-300 range in said Jeep and it's a pucker factor experience.

His arrogance is what pisses me off the most.

I think I summed up all his errors....and yes..his arrogance is just unbelievable.

1) Chose to go 4wheeling on arguably the MOST DIFFICULT trail in Northern California ALONE.

2) YOU went wheeling on a trail you are unfamiliar without a guide or someone experienced on the trail

3) YOU didn't read the warnings posted in the Fordyce Thread on dangerous water levels

4) YOU didn't post a redundant question (ignoring the thread) asking about water levels

5) YOU took your family and kids on a Level 10 trail alone, across a WELL KNOWN and EXTREMELY DANGEROUS river crossing.

6) YOU didn't post a question asking #5, if bringing the family was a good idea. If you had, a link to #3 would have been the response.

7) You went on the news, blamed PG&E, when in fact the levels have been HIGH for weeks. The water level ROSE because of continuing melt off during the day, between the dam and YOU. If you read #3 thread, you would have known.

8) You went on the news and DIDN'T WARN OTHERS, DIDN'T POINT out your mistakes (1 - 7) so that someone else as dumb, at least would know where to look.

9) You came back here (which gets some points for manning up), but then you failed to acknowledge your mistakes...and still blamed the dam.

It was all over pirate that if you cross the river its more than likely when you come back it will be heigher. He should of done better research. Hopefully he learned his lesson and others learned from him not to take there daily drivers on fordyce.

I wish I could have read the original thread posted on PBB before it was edited. Did he actually post from the trail asking to be rescued?

We ran across a similar situation last week in Moab. A guy with his wife and kids out alone in a newer Land Cruiser, 4 kids and they all looked like they were between 2 and 5. He was out on Hells Revenge eying us running Hells Gate, they actually started into the initial drop then realized he was in too deep and backed out. I couldn't get him in my rear view mirror fast enough

After reading his screwed up view of reality I damned near puked.

http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showpost ... stcount=90

Is this guy for real? It's almost like he planned the whole thing and is trying to get more than just a news story out of the ordeal.

He makes Charlie Wenzel look smart

I think he posted once he got back home. Initially it was for help to get the FJ outta there, but it turned ugly once all the facts started coming out and we found out the media was involved.
