Thanks to the Fordyce not being closed due to silly fire restrictions, our Friday ride was Larry, Dusty, Jake, Tim, Carrie and Loren going to the committee crossing and back. Larry and Dusty the veterans, took the rock crawling newbies successfully down and back through Winch Hill 3, 4 and 5. Larry has posted pictures.
Friday night I took a bunch up to the top of "Jack's Spot" for a star gazing ride. The full moon, kinda zapped the stars, but it was fun all the same.
Saturday was the big ride, 15 riders...yes 15...caterpillar'd their way 70 miles roundtrip to the town of Washington and back. We all rode into town, and parked like an ATV GANG and had single beverage/siesta before returning to camp.
Saturday night, we all enjoyed a nice fire and great conversation until the morning hours for some.
On Friday, I received an email from David Reid, who is Terry's brother. I want to post this email, to show how much this all means to his family.
I received a phone call from Will File yesterday about your upcoming ride. I cannot tell you how emotional it was for me. I called Robert (brother number 2) and told him about the call. We both cried. It was a good cry though.
What great friends you are to carry on this tradition. I am humbled by your kindness. Words cannot express how much WE appreciate you and all the other riders.
Will asked if I could make it and of course I had to tell that I could not. I had not looked at your web site since last year and did not know the date of the ride. Shame on me!
I will watch for future rides, and will try my best to attend the ride next year. Of course Robert and I are not ATV riders but we would love to just hang out.
I hope that you had a GREAT time and that everyone was safe. We will be thinking about you and Terry.
Thank You.
Respectfully,
David and Robert Reid
