Impromptu Snow Ride

Postby Kendo » Sun Dec 09, 2007 5:34 pm

Decided last night we should hit the snow while its fresh. Headed up to the end of Foresthill Road and ran into some good powder. Then it came to an abrupt stop in a 3 foot snow drift. Here's a link to a few pics we took.

Nice scenery! I can see Snow Mountain from here (Applegate) and wondered how far up the road you can get. Now I know! :-)

I'm gathering up some winter gear and hope to head up that way with someone, sometime. Where did you park - China Wall?

We went past China Wall about .5 - .75 miles and pulled off the side of the road. Still quite a bit of pavement showing thru at CW and the gate is still open.

Ya know Ken, I think I'll edit the video we took and put it to music..........and I think I know JUST the tune!! LMFAO!!!

We rode about 3 1/2 hours or so. Might have gone longer, but once we got stuck, there was nowhere to go but back to the truck.

You would have had fun, but you have to have a 4WD quad. The Honda wouldn't have gone far. :)

We wanted to go up there Saturday. With my lowly 2x4 truck and no winches on the quads we decided not. We went to Sugar Pine instead. We were able to find our way to some snow near Elliot Ranch road. Not very deep but it was still pretty. This was our first trip to the Foresthill area. Now that I can see how much snow was up top I wish we could have made it up there.

Interesting how the ice crystals formed under the snow.
