Helmet Sugestions?

Postby Pepe » Wed Oct 24, 2007 3:20 pm

I'm looking to get a new helmet. One that is more for rideing in the cold and rain. I currently have a full face mx style Polaris helmet that I am happy with. The problem is that I wear galsses and I dont like wearing goggles. I have some over the glasses goggles and never where them. I will probably look into getting a Polaris snowmobile helmet. Finding one that fits is sometimes a problem with my fat head, so I need to see it in person and try it on. Of corse no one around here in the Bay Area has snowmobile stuff.

Any sugestions on a full face full shield helmet?

Well....

I just bought a HJC CL-15 and Lori got a HJC CL-12. The 12 is carbon fiber.

I think you'll find the standard Polaris helmets weigh a TON! I'm afraid, you get what you pay for, in the weight category.

I don't wear glasses, but riding the snow/rain with goggles...BLows. So I got a full face shield for that reason.

Hi Ken,

Where'd you buy - looks like a decent helmet for the price! I need something other than goggles too!

I bought it at the Polaris dealer, before it became OTD in Auburn.

Pepe - http://www.helmetcity.com is in Oakland, at the bottom of the home page is a street address. They carry tons - including snowmobile styles from HJC.

Hope this helps you!

Thanks for the help guys. I ended up going with one of these...

I got it for $150 and it is carbon fiber. It is a fairly heavy helmet but with the carbon fiber it is about the same as my full face Polaris helmet. I took it out on a ride over thanksgiveing up at Mt Shasta. At ~25 deg and rideing in 10" of snow it worked great. I had no problems with my face getting cold. If i started to fog up my glasses I would just crack open the shield and all was better.
