Cabela's to Open Reno Store on November 16th

A day after receiving preliminary approval for sales tax financing, outdoor retailer Cabela's announces it will open its store in Verdi west of Reno on Nov. 16th.

Company officials say the 125,000 square-foot store will include animal displays in museum-quality dioramas, as well as an aquarium and a mountain complete with waterfalls, stream and trout pond.

It also will feature a laser arcade, furniture department, gun library, restaurant, general store, fly fishing and gift shop.

Cabela's anticipates up to 3-million people could visit the store annually.

The Reno City Council on Wednesday agreed to sell up to $35 million in Sales Tax Anticipated Revenue, or STAR bonds, to cover two-thirds of the store's construction costs.

Sales taxes generated from the store and surrounded businesses will be used to pay off the bonds.

The Cabela's back East are pretty awesome, all day events. I was less than impressed by their Boise store.

The Bass Pro Shops in Las Vegas is incredible, truly an all day eat your Wheaties and pack a lunch adventure. Could be the fact that they packaged it with a casino, but still a must see :D

The building is a monster. Worse yet, it is at the Boomtown exit where we usually stop for gas on the way back from Reno. No need to worry about the casinos cleaning out my wallet, this store will do the job just fine.
