Moab Trip Report

Postby oldtrucks » Tue Apr 10, 2007 10:42 pm

Day 2 is in the books and we're all still in one piece. On Day 1 we met up with Steve from Montana Jack's and took on the Cliffhanger. Cliffhanger is supposed to be rated difficult, and according to our guide book the 6th most difficult trail in the area. It opens with a nasty downhill staircase that gets your attention right away, but no real signicicant obstacles after that.
Group shot in staging before the ride, L-R Larry, Ken, Jack, Steve, and Dusty.

Day 2 we met up with Thomas Opre of Tahoe Films and ran Pritchett Canyon. Pritchett holds the #2 spot on the difficulty chart. Right out of the gate we came across a wheel eating rock. This one folded Kens right front wheel like a taco shell.

We moved on up the trail while Ken ran back to town and got a spare.

Jack grabbed a quick nap while we waited for Ken after we had to winch up a ledge.

Damn I am jealous. Out of curiousity, did Ken hit something at 40 MPH or what? That wheel is FUBAR! I hope that is not a testiment of the ITP wheels strength.

who is MrT? Is that "Mr. Dusty T"

At least Keith you would get a new rim for free. All the new rims we get should be the ITP SS series Al. rims.

Whats the word on the Big-Horns vs. Rocks?
Better than the 589"s?

Oh yea Ken does not have to be going 40MPH to tear things up like this

I'm not sure how fast he was going, but I was behind him about 50 feet, power on and stereo blasting, and I could hear the impact.

Ken's smashed wheel? It was a second take on the very first shot we were doing on the trail....first time he wheelyed over a ledge and second time....he didn't...no 40mph but about 15mph

awesome locations and incredible riders...look for it in MM3
