First annual Chester Mountain Sports Ice oval race

Postby Chadd » Mon Jan 08, 2007 3:52 pm

You guys are talking alot about Ice Racing and there are about 8 ponds out behind my Shop all differant sizes and shapes and one even has a Island in the middle Perfect for filming.
I say we pick a good weekend and do some ice racing. i checked them out this morning and there all frozen Plus there is a huge cold snap coming this week so we should be good.. We can do a Saturday night and Sunday race or whatever but we should do it.

Sounds like we might get some snow This week.. I'll have to keep a eye on the Ponds.. Right now it's clear ice with no snow on top..

Temps are supposed to drop by Thursday, 20's down in the valley, near Zero in the mountains. Right now looks like the precipitation shouldn't be too much.

Ok Chadd, sounds like it's time to break out one of those new Can-Am Renegades. I'll bet it would do well on ice.

Ok, guess we need to set up some classes and rules.

Sport Limited (any factory 2wd quad, 2 or 4 stroke)
Sport Unlimited (anything with 4 wheels and a base weight not exceeding 900 lbs)
Utility 699cc and Under (any factory 4wd quad)
Utility 700cc up (any factory 4wd quad)

No studs longer than 3/8" measured from the tread surface
2 heats in each class, 10 laps each
heat starting grid based on a best of 3 Ro-Sham-Bo shot-out
Main event 25 laps
Starting grid is based on highest average of the 2 heats, with top 6 inverted
Start position is all quads staged in an angled line, engine off, key in riders hand.
Riders must run 50 feet from starting line to staged quad

Any abandoned, broken or wrecked quad left on the racing surface shall be considered track surface, as such it made be driven over or through, regardless of the aspect of the operator of said quad

LOL....4 divisions, 2 heats in each class...a main event....

WTF happened to......drill hole, check depth, throw out cones and GO!?

What altitude are they at Chadd? Looks like the EFI boys could be in for a good time.

That's almost worth driving the 8 hours up north... I even have a set of junk tires I can stud up for the event... :P
