Helmet Duty

Postby MrBill » Wed Sep 27, 2006 7:48 pm

Know that I have everyone’s attention....
How are you all cleaning the inside of your helmets?
I just hosed out my first Polaris helmet out (4/15/04) and you would not believe the dirt that came out. I also have a new removable liner helmet that I just hosed out.

My liner comes out, just toss it in the washer. Rinse the rest with a warm water and mild soap solution, seeks to works fine......but I have noticed that the paint is starting to peel on the outside a little

I know this rock that has some paint on it...maybe you can scrape it off and reapply.

I wash my helmet out in the kitchen sink with warm water and a little shampoo.
I figure the shampoo won't hurt my hair. What's left of it, that is

lol....that would be funny...washing your helmet with car detergent would be cool....then suddenly having it all fall out.

I've had my helmet for more than a year and still haven't cleaned the inside. I wonder if all the accumulated dirt, sweat, etc provides any additional protection against impacts? lol

Hand wash, but between those compressed air does a quick decent job.
