The fish appears to be a Micropterus salmoides (Largemouth Bass). Odd that it would be in such a cool clear stream. Global warming I guess.

That's What I'm Talking About!
Hey Mr. Ranger, I'm legal! Taken this weekend just after I came off the dirt at Wentworth Springs Road. Yes, I rode the Rubicon Trail on my new (to me) "quad". Ok, I didn't ride the whole trail; only to the Wentworth Springs campground. It was getting late and I didn't have enough time to get to Rub...

Re: More of the 43/44 road area
I did this ride about a month ago on my road bike (the type you pedal). 60ish miles and lots of climbing up Mosquito Ridge Rd. Pushed up the dirt rd through snow to get to Robinson's Flat. I did the ride on my new "quad-bike" last week (the type you twist the throttle). The view from the lookout at ...

Re: How to Make Quad Calif. Steet Legal
Yes, I did sell my quad. Keeping the quad and getting the dual sport was not an option. Actually, I could have kept the quad and bought the dual sport, but I would have lost my wife. I hope I made the right call. I mean for the most part I like my wife better than my quad. We'll see. I am looking fo...

How to Make Quad Calif. Steet Legal
I give up. Trail restrictions have made it too difficult so I decided to make my quad California street legal.

I'm planning on being there. I assume two wheeled quads are allowed?

There are four circumstances where running an ATV in snow is fun: 1. The first 6"-12" of snow in the fall. 2. Thaw during the afternoon and freezing temps at night. The crust in the morning is great, but better be back before it gets soft. 3. Bandit riding packed and groomed snowmobile trails. Very ...

Re: Major Rubicon Changes Announced
I have been informed that Placer County in conjunction with El Dorado Natl. Forest will be making unprecedented changes to the Rubicon Trail this summer. The following changes are planned: 1. The trail will be graded and asphalted from Loon Lake to Tahoma. 2. A stop light will be installed at Ellis...

It's all about the COFU Index. This index is critical to not only ATV speed, but pretty much any life situation. Proper estimation of the COFU Index is essentially evolutionary therory simplified. Here are some examples: Testing a 9v battery with your tongue = low COFU Index Testing a 220v line with...
