Little Jaunt

I thought I would take a little ride in the Tadpole Creek area. It's a small area off Foresthill Road almost to Robinson Flat. It's got a killer view of the North Fork American River Canyon. The bad news is that it was burned over in the 2009 Westville/Government Spring fire, but the good news is th...

Re: Rides off I-80 and Foresthill

Ohhhhhhhhh! #-o Yeah, everyone here knows I only think in day trips... :-)

Maybe Washington would be the ticket. There's a campground there that some folks here use. I think it's something like River Rest?

Re: Rides off I-80 and Foresthill

I've never had an issue, it's a busy road there with people coming and going to Bowman and Lindsey Lake. You could also go up to Lindsey Lake or Carr Lake, there are campgrounds there and it connects from Carr To Lindsey and then to Bowman Road, all on dirt. Is this because you don't have the traile...

Re: 3-Day Plumas/Tahoe Expedition (Day 3)

I don't know about the rest of his adventure (which all sounds fun), but the Buttes would be fun. About 6 miles on the most direct route, but I bet the stairway will make it like 50. :-)

Re: Rides off I-80 and Foresthill

That's the place I park. There have been days when the place is crawling with trucks and trailers and other days when I am the only one. When you get to the turnoff for Lindsey Lakes, on the left is a big round area (it gets used as a corral sometimes) and that's where I usually park. The day folks ...

Re: Wolverine - old name, new machine!

Maybe ground clearance. It's very good for a stock machine but the additional wheelbase over the quad shows. Still, it does fine on most all the roads I've been on so far with the occasional drag over a waterbar. One thing to know is that wihile the 708cc motor will get this thing around quite well,...

Re: Wolverine - old name, new machine!

It's a lot smoother ride than the quad, mostly because it weighs more. I really like the suspension too. You are talking exactly the reason we got one - used to have two quads but we never rode together because of the dust. Now we can. It doesn't replace the quad, it's wider and has a different fun-...

Re: 3-Day Plumas/Tahoe Expedition (Day 3)

Ain't that how life seems to be. I have another few journeys that never got completed too. Eric never came over (not like it's real far) to ride the Forest Road 19 area. As he would say, Oyyy.

Re: Off to Bowman

I always thought Bowman Road itself was the toughest terrain! But it's been improved a lot. There's the Fordyce from the upper side (access from Meadow Lake), but you will have to ride to Meadow Lake. Based on the snow I saw last weekend (thick drifts, in broad sunny areas) I'm guessing it will be s...

Rides off I-80 and Foresthill

When I came here back in 2007, I didn't know where the heck to go ride the quad. Here are a few ideas with easy access and miles of riding. Forest Road 19 TNF FR-19 can be accessed from either Yuba Gap, or at Emigrant Gap. At Yuba, turn right at the Kelly Lake intersection onto Lake Valley Rd and go...

Re: New Member...Check in

Well, the good news is you could take your car to Bowman now - the road is much improved and the amount of cars and SUVs up there was breathtaking. Fortunately they won't be up there all summer! Rather than post here in the welcome section, I'll post in the Trails section with some descriptions of p...
