Amazing, GG, I never even thought of this for my ATV battery, since your original discovery, they are everywhere. How many watts do you think one needs to do the job? The amazon one is 1.8, and some of the others are 4-5.

Sorry to bring this thread back to the top, but I just discovered something that may work as a solar charger also, and much cheaper. Apparently Volkswagen and Audi cars come from Europe with a solar charger stuck on the inside of the windshield and plugged into the cigarette lighter to keep the batt...

Didn't those Canadians that rode from Montana to the Baja have one of these. It was in a lot of their pictures.

This is an interesting thread. I went to pricescan.com, and PCNation came up the cheapest. I got mine right after thanksgiving. It was 324.00 and free shipping. I had it in three days. Then I got the 50$ rebate. So I don't feel too bad. I got the Garmin software that enables me to download maps from...

There are people who have built rotary plows. I will see if I can find a video. I can push up to maybe 4-5 inches, and it is really fun. The brick is 1:1. It helps keep the plow down.

oops, I got the same link as above, Sorry about that. You have to play the video, and then look at the next link for the Donner Pass tunnel #8. Sorry, the link didn't change when I moved over to the next one.

That's a very cool video ATV'er. There is another video on that page, http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=3278406775648595281&q=sierra+nevada+railroad&total=24&start=0&num=10&so=0&type=search&plindex=6 that shows a train exiting tunnel #8 on Donner Pass. GG this should look very familiar to you....

Vulcan, I play in G scale. This is also called largescale or a Garden Railroad. I have about a half acre of woods behind my house, with over 500 ft of stainless steel track. Here is a picture I took yesterday after our big(?) snowstorm. I can hear GG laughing all the way back here. http://www.paulbo...

GG,
I bought the movie today. 8 bucks, used at a FYE store. Do you have these stores in CA? Big CD and video store.
I'll look at it sometime this weekend.
I'll let you know.

I don't know why they put the helpers in the middle or the end. It may have something to do with the length of the train. The longer, the more likely to put one on the middle. I am going to be involved with an attempt at world record for the longest model train. It will be so long, that there will h...

GG, Great train story. People raised around trains always have cool stories like this. In Utah, we used to throw rocks at the caboose windows on a slow coal drag going by the house, then run like crazy. My train story is that I was born and raised in a town named after a Train. Helper. This is the e...

Wow GG. That is amazing. You are LIVING proof (thankfully) to the saying "be careful, the light at the end of the tunnel might just be the train coming at you." Seriously, video around some of those tunnels would really be interesting. Just don't tangle with a train or the score will be Trains=1 Gri...

Actually, a good friend gave me a box full of TRAINS magazine. The December 2006 has a two page map about the Donner Pass Showsheds. Very cool map. So I Googled DP showsheds, and actually got some pictures, and video of trains emerging from tunnels and sheds. That's another reason that area looks in...

That looks like a cool movie GG. I went 80% into the trailer before I saw a train, but stations, are also very cool. There are a lot of restored ones around here that are fun to see. I don't chase trains to photograph them, but I love stopping at crossings for trains, which really drives my wife cra...
