There's some great deal on winches out there if you shop around. Then all you have to buy is a mounting plate for you atv. Since the 05 Kodiak 450 seems to be winch challenged I decided to buy from the dealer. The kit includes everything and is made for my Yamaha. When I look at GoWarn.com or Amazo...

Well I ordered the Yamaha Warn winch kit. I am pretty sure that it is a normal RT25 with a Yamaha sticker on it. It is a shame that I am buying from the dealer that sold me the ATV and no one in the parts department seems to have the first clue about the winches they sell.

The Yamaha kit is $415 minus my 10% discount. I have seen it online for $360. Online I have to pay shipping, at the dealer I have to pay tax. How does the brake work on the RT? The Yamaha kit is not clear if the winch is an RT. I am beginning to think that it is but I want to make sure. Is the brake...

Winch advice

I am finally getting a winch for my ATV. I can buy a Yamaha kit that is a Warn winch. I haven't been able figure out what model it is. As best as I can tell it is in between the old 2.5ci and the new RT25. It has steel cable and I am not sure if it has a brake. It is sold as a complete kit and Yamah...

It looks like it could be fun under certain conditions, but I don't think it would really work as an ATV.

The poker run is for members and non members. I had to pay $10 to get my poker hand and lunch. I paid and extra $5 to get a hand for my wife. I paid an extra $10 for her lunch as I recall. So $25 for 2 lunches and 2 poker hands. I got her a different deal because she did not ride. A membership is $3...

It looks like a great ride. I really like the photo of the two quads in front of the lake. What is the elevation where the snow starts? I am hoping to get into Robinson Flat above Forest Hill before we leave for Colorado this year. Maybe the snow will melt in time.

Shasta Rock Rollers Poker Run

I got to attend the Shasta Rock Rollers Poker Run again this year. This is a club that is based in Redding CA. The poker run is in Wildwood, off highway 36 about an hour west of Red Bluff. There were 62 riders on the poker run. They had to break it into 5 groups to make it work. I came in with a pai...

I have a collapsible rod that I put into a PVC pipe to protect it. A removable reel and a small tackle box and you are set.

There we go. Like I said, it is basically a pully system. The more pullies, the easier the pull. Definitely need one of them as they look pretty bullet-proof. I am thinking I can home make my own for @ $20 instead of payng out $70. As long as you remember quality counts Now just for fun... have som...

Both of you have some nice creek photos. That trail just for fun looks like the one we rode on where most everyone missed the turn separating the group. It was interesting watching the side by sides get over the rocks and thru the trees.
